How do I use the Sparkyard usage report?

The creators of the works within Sparkyard receive royalties from both the purchase of Sparkyard as well as from third-party collecting agencies such as CCLI, CLA and SPML, depending on where and how their work is used within the school. This allows them to be financially rewarded for their creative work in a fair and proper way. 

Most Schools in the UK already have agreements with the relevant licencing bodies (CCLI, CLA and SPML).  These licenses allow you to use the creative material in Sparkyard for various school activities. For example, all songs used in Collective Worship/Assemblies need to be reported by the school via CCLI’s on-line reporting platform. The report generated by Sparkyard will help you do this by collecting the usage data for you. This usage then needs to be reported to the appropriate licensing body, depending on the area of school life it was used in. For the date range that you choose, the Sparkyard report tells you:

• No. of Plays – how many times you have played the song (in excess of 30 seconds) and may have projected it for your children to sing
• No. of Scores – how many times you have opened the Score PDF for the song, and so may have made digital or physical copies
• No. of Lyrics – how many times you have opened the Lyric PDF for the song, and so may have made digital or physical copies

Please remember to exclude from this report any usage that was exclusively for lesson planning. The report already excludes song plays from student share links. For more details on how to report and usage examples please see the relevant links below.
